Edubuilder Learning,’ founded by Mdm Tan in 1999, was originally named ‘Mdm Tan’s Learning Centre.’ It was a popular centre in Bukit Timah.
Mdm Tan was trained at NIE/NTU (1991-1996) and was among the first batch to receive her degree. Being the top in her cohort, she was selected for the Honours programme. In the spirit of further education, she has also completed her Master in Education and will be pursuing her PhD. Mdm Tan specialises in the teaching of English and is renowned for her methodology in composition and comprehension. With close to thirty years of teaching experience, she has developed her unique teaching style to inspire the minds of young children with her fun and creative methods. She believes in the teaching of grammatical concepts for the children to excel in their papers.
Being an ex-secondary school teacher, she has modified the comprehension and composition skills to suit the primary level. Over the years, she has not only produced numerous top students from various schools but has also been enthusiastic about helping weaker students build their foundation in the English Language.
Her centre was nominated for the ‘Top SME Award’ and the ‘Top 25 Service Award.’ Her materials, known as ‘The Complete English Programme,’ are well sought-after by companies. Mdm Tan’s role as a curriculum writer and teacher trainer enables her to train other teachers in her highly successful teaching methods. Mdm Tan keeps up with recent trends in schools to prepare her students for the latest examination formats.
In recent years, Mdm Tan has established centres on the east side of Singapore, known as ‘Edubuilder Learning LLP.’ Mdm Tan has also expanded her programmes to offer Secondary English programmes. Mdm Tan and her team of teachers will strive to bring out the potential of every child under their care.
